Web Conferencing is a term used to refer to a technology that allows users to have live virtual meetings and presentations over a broadband internet connection. Each meeting attendee sits at his or her computer and uses web conferencing software to join the meeting. Some web conferencing software is installed on the users computer while others are loaded by simply visting a web site and logging into a meeting with an access code.

Webinars are a form of web conferencing where there is a presenter who broadcasts to viewers. In a webinar the presenter usually has the control and sometimes mediates comments posted by viewers. For the most part viewers of a webinar are unware of other viewers and therefore don't they don't interact with each other.
